2021 Afcon Qualifiers: Zimbabwe coach ‘blocks’ players for ignoring call-ups after sealing qualification

Zimbabwe head coach, Zdravko Logarusic, has revealed that he has blocked players who failed to honour a national team call up for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations [Afcon] qualifiers.

Zimbabwe sealed their place at next year’s competition after beating Botswana by a lone goal.

Perfect Chikwende scored the only goal of the game on the 15th minute of the game.

After the qualification, Logarusic, said his actions are to reward the players who fought hard to earn the country qualification, as well as eliminating opportunists who may want to use the AFCON as a way to further their careers.

“Now that we have qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations [Afcon], I am seeing their replies but I have also blue ticked and blocked them,” the former Asante Kotoko gaffer said.

In taking Zimbabwe to the Afcon, Logarusic becomes the first foreign manager to take the Warriors through to the continental showpiece.
