Ghana head coach, CK Akonnor has noted that he has decided to invite Harrison Afful for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matches against Sudan because he wants immediate solutions.

The veteran defender was left out of the Ghana squad in the last international break where the Black Stars played friendly games against their counterpart from Mali and Qatar.

Having identified the need for experience in defense, Coach CK Akonnor has today handed an invite to Harrison Afful for Ghana’s crucial double-header against Sudan in November.

“For me, I am looking for immediate solutions and if you want to do that you don’t want to play around, you want to go straight to the point and therefore the immediate solutions are those guys”, coach Akonnor explained in an interview with the communications team of the GFA.

The tactician added, “Again, on the right side, just recently, this young gentleman, Benson, who did very, very well. But he needs support, he needs the old guys to be around, to learn from them and therefore I thought it wise to bring around none other person than Harrison Afful, to back him up and of course support him and that is why Harrison is also there”.

Ghana will on Thursday, November 12, 2020 take on the North Africans in the first of a double-header tie at the Cape Coast stadium, before traveling to Khartoum, five days later for the reverse fixture.
