AUG 18, 2020 LISTEN

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has rescheduled the date for its 26th Ordinary Congress to September 1, 2020, Modernghana Sports can report.

The country’s football governing body in a letter to its members in July indicated that the next session of Congress will be staged on August 27 via video conferencing as a result of the restrictions on gatherings in response to the Coronavirus pandemic.

However, after the lifting of restrictions, the Ghana FA has through a different letter to its stakeholders today informed them of a change to the date and venue of Congress.

While canceling the virtual plan, the GFA has also moved the date of the Ordinary Congress from August 27 to September 1, 2020.

“Following the lifting of restrictions on the number of people who can attend conferences subject to the maintenance of social distancing (et) by His Excellency the President of Ghana in his 15th Update on Measures Taken Against the spread of Coronavirus, the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association at it's meeting on Monday, 17 August 2020 has fixed a new date and venue for Congress.

“Kindly be informed that pursuant to Article 31(2) of the GFA Statutes 2019, the Executive Council has fixed Tuesday, September 1, 2020, at 9 am o'clock in the forenoon as the date and time for the 26th Ordinary Congress and the GFA Technical Centre (Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence, Prampram) as the venue for the Congress”, a letter from the GFA has said.
