Professor Joseph Mintah, the president for the Ghana Coaches Association has kicked against the resumption of the football season in the country as he explains that the Coronavirus (Covid-19) situation does not make it advisable.

The country’s football association in March suspended the various leagues following an announcement from the government banning all public gatherings including sporting activities.

Last Sunday, H.E Nana Addo in another address to the national indicated that the ban on public gatherings has been extended until July 31st as his government continues to fight the spread of the deadly disease.

As a section of the football community call for the country to emulate Germany and allow the season to resume, others have also frown against such suggestions.

Adding his voice to the conversation, Prof. Mintah has noted that football is not safe to return at this point in time.

“Personally I will say no looking at our current situation. There are some protocols that must be adhered to such as testing and camping players”, the coach said in an interview with Happy FM.

He continued, “My concern is that an average Ghanaian player is not disciplined unlike the European and it will be difficult for them to even follow the protocols”, he indicated on whether the season should continue or not”.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is still in consultation with the government and other stakeholders as they target taking a final decision on the fate of the football season at the end of June.
