Ghana Free?

Barely sixty years ago, we fought
And won our independence from them
Yet we run to them for alms and grants...
Would a free person do that?
Freedom is won in the minds of people
Not attained through arms and chaos
Forward we march, regardless and backwards never...

Yet we lack basic needs as a people!
Life they say begins at forty
And at sixty, we retire and enjoy from our labour...

Where do we stand as a nation?
Do we not sleep in darkness in this 21st century?
Well, I ask, Are we truly free?
Ghanaians, let us rise, fight on
Flee from slavery and change our attitude
For in that direction would we truly be free!
