All newly elected members of the various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies throughout the country will be inaugurated on Thursday, January 23, 2020, the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development (MLGRD) has announced.
A statement signed by the Minister of the MLGRD, Hajia Alima Mahama said the inaugurations, which are in pursuant to Section (3) of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (936) had become necessary after the successful conduct of the district level elections by the Electoral Commission on December 17, 2019.
It said the inauguration would take place in the capitals of the various assemblies across the country at either 9:00am or 2:00pm.
