Opponents of Bill take to the street

Accra, Feb. 9, GNA - A group calling itself Concerned Ghanaians on Thursday said they would go on demonstration on Valentine's Day Tuesday, February 14, 2006 to protest against the passage of the Representation of the People Amendment Bill.

A statement issued in Accra and signed by leading members of the group Mr Benard Mornah and Mr Mahama Ayariga said the group met with the Greater Accra Regional Police Commander to discuss the demonstration and the public protest.

It said the Ghana Police Service was satisfied with the designated routes for the demonstration and that the Police would be available to ensure law, order and the protection of life and property. The statement said the demonstration would be peaceful and orderly and asked all Ghanaians to join in the march.
