Begoro (E/R), Jan. 21, GNA - A 29-year-old carpenter at Begoro, Kofi Ben, has been sentenced to three years' imprisonment, in hard labour, by the Begoro District Magistrate Court for slashing a man with a machete on Christmas day.

He pleaded guilty to the charge of causing harm. Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector William Kwasi Nkrumah, told the court presided over by Mr Robert Djan that, on December 25, last year, the accused, without provocation, attempted to attack one Yaw Darko with the offensive weapon.

He said while the complainant was running away wit Ben chasing him, he was unfortunately trapped by a rope. The prosecutor said the accused took advantage and inflicted wounds on Darko's head and hands before he was rescued.
