A lecturer at the University of Cape Coast Business School, Professor John Gatsi has debunked rumors he has been considered as one of the possible people to run with the former President John Dramani Mahama in the up-coming 2020 elections.

"I know political parties have their ways of choosing the people and I’m not part of the system and I don’t know what those issues are about’’, he said.

Speaking to the host of Genesis in the morning show Alhassan Bin Jibril Spelele on Genesis Radio Wednesday, the economics professor did not emphatically deny acceptance or otherwise of the rumors but indicated to the host he doesn’t know what those issues are about and for that matter will not contribute to the issues for now.

Some nine names popped up two months ago as leading candidates to be named as John Mahama’s running-mate for the 2020 elections.

Mahama became the NDC’s presidential candidate after beating his six other contenders.

He was endorsed by over 200,000 delegates of the NDC during the 23rd February, 2019 party’s presidential primaries held at the various constituencies across the nation.

The ex-president polled a whopping 213,487 votes representing 95% of the total votes. Other six contenders had 5% of votes combined.

However, Mahama is yet to announce his running mate despite a lot of name being speculated around.

Names like the formal Attorney General, Marrietta Appia Oppong Brew; Kwasi Ahoi; formal Bank of Ghana Deputing Governor, Dr.Johnson Asiamah; Julius Debrah; Former Foreign Affairs Minister, Hannah Tetteh; Former Education Minister Prof. Jane Opoku Agyemang; Lecturer at the University of Cape Coast Business School, Prof. John Gatsi and Dr kwesi Botchwey, the former chairman of NDPC.
