The 2018 edition of the annual inter-squadron steeplechase exercise course 1 organized by The Ghana Air force, Takoradi Base has commenced.

The competition, which is an inter-circular nationwide exercise for the Airforce, is to train and equip the recruit as military personnel to undertake their obligations for the country.

Air Commodore Frank Hanson, the Commander, Airforce Takoradi, said the exercise was to enable the Force get to know the physical fitness of the recruit before recruiting them as soldiers.

He reiterated that, the exercise was to imbue a sense of discipline and cooperation into the recruit.

He hinted that the exercise, which took place at the Airforce Training School, comprised a road run of 12kilometers over a terrain with both natural and artificial obstacles to be crossed before getting to the finishing line.

He said crossing the obstacles would pave way for one to come out successfully in the competition, adding that, the overall recruit who would be able to pass through all the obstacles would be awarded bountifully after the exercise.

Recruit Adade Solomon who emerged the Overall Best Winner, used a record time of 01:03:53 and was awarded a certificate and a trophy, whiles Recruit Dake Julius who came Second Best used 01:08:43 and was given a certificate, with Recruit Mensah Agidi Isaac, getting the Third Best with 01:09:20 and was also given a certificate.

Mr Hanson expressed his heartfelt appreciation to Recruit Matilda Baah for emerging the Best Female Recruit with the record time of 01:15:00 to finish the line and crossed all the obstacles and was awarded with a certificate and a trophy.

"You have exhibited a high sense of team work and I entreat all your colleague ladies to emulate your examples so that we can uplift the name of Airforce, Takoradi ".

He said the exercise was to inform them and prepare them adequately to fight for the country when the need arose.

Mr Hanson therefore encouraged the recruits to work hard in their training so that they would come out successfully in all the recruit exercises.
