50 Sanitation Ambassadors Unveiled In Accra

50 young ambassadors from 25 educational institutions in Accra has been unveiled to champion sanitation and tourism campaigns across the country through a joint project by the Ministry of Sanitation, and Water Resources, Melshe Travel and Tours and Qualiplast Limited.

The ambassadors were outdoored during the celebration of the annual Kids in Tourism festival but taked with the the primary objective of educating their fellow students and their communities on quality disposal methods to help ensure clean environment in Ghana.

Mr. Joseph Akil, Deputy General Manager of Qualiplast Ghana Limited in outdooring the ambassadors explained that sanitation is a big problem especially for plastic and rubber product producers within the country hence the reason for they adopting the project.

He added that the focus was on the young ones in schools since they are the future of every nation, and capable of sustain certain habits and culture .

“We need to invest in them now through education to drive down the culture of quality sanitation practices. As they grow, they grow with it”, he added.

He further outlined that series of healthy quizzes, and educational tasks would be assigned to the ambassadors and their schools for execution.

"The eventual winner would be financially supported, and scholarships also awarded," he added.

Also, in a speech read on behalf of the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, by Mrs Amy Frimpong, the Chief Executive Officer of the National Theartre, she advised families to help the children in holding on the values and culture of Ghana by maintaining a clean, and serene environment.

She also urged families to adopt the culture of visiting tourism sites especially beaches to sustain their interest for their future.

The Kids In Tourism (K.I.T) schools club is an initiative of Melshe Travels and Tour in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, and the Ghana Tourism Authority, with over 5000 membership in 5 regions of Ghana.
