Accra College of Education Alumni Wants Old Student As Principal
22.09.2018 LISTEN

The Old Students of Accra College of Education (ACEPSA), are calling on government to appoint an old Student as the new principal of the College .

The Alumni are appealing to government to appoint a qualified alumnus to succeed the current Principal, Mrs Christina Henaku Bampo, who is due to retire soon.

According to the Alumni of the College Of Education, it is prudent that an old student succeeds the current Principal to help manage the affairs of the College as she approaches her retirement.

The Alumni indicated that, as the College prepares to be converted into a fully-fledged tertiary Institution, there is the need for an Alumnus to take over the affairs of the College since the Alumnus knows and understands issues in the College, and is likely to promote its development better.

The Old Students also indicated that an Alumnus would understand the management of the College better since he or she would love to make sure his or her Alma Mater achieves the best in all of its endeavors.

According to the Alumni, the opportunity must be given to hardworking old students some of whom have been working as staff for years, and have influenced many students positively.

The Alumni are therefore appealing to the National Council for Tertiary Education (NCTE) to consider a qualified Alumnus to take over the management of the College.

Speaking to Citi News, the Old Students alleged that there has been a huge suspicion that some individuals or groups of people have teemed up to get their favourites who are not old students of the College to fill this vacant position, even though some qualified old students have applied for the position.

According to the Old Students, this has been the situation in almost all Colleges of Education, and they feel this is the best time for Accra College to have one of their own as a Principal of the College.

Some Alumni who spoke with Citi News, threatened to resist the appointment of an outsider.
