President Nana Addo has been recognized the Outstanding Change Leader at the recently held Ghana Procurement and Supply Chain Awards 2018 at Movenpick, Accra.

President Nana Addo award can be likened to his demonstrable abilities and competencies notably, his no-nonsense attitude in government and the zeal to transform the country to higher pedestals.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA), Mr. Adjenim Boateng Adjei was adjudged the Procurement Man of the Year in recognition of his outstanding service, innovation and tireless efforts in Ghana’s Procurement & Supply Chain sector.

Mr. A.B Adjei has over three decades of experience in procurement and Supply, and has contributed immensely to the growth of procurement and supply, especially in capacity building, procurement evaluation and monitoring both at home and abroad.

The Minister of State In-charge of Procurement, Sarah Adwoa Sarfo was awarded Sustainable Procurement Transformation in recognition of her laudable procurement initiatives, such as the procurement quota to women initiative, eliminating corruption and fraudulent procurement processes and being the first ever female Minister to be in Charge of Public Procurement.

She worked as the first legal officer of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA) for two years and was very instrumental in the formulation of the proposals that formed the basis for the creation of the Appeals and Complaint Panel of PPA and the change of the name, Public Procurement Board to Public Procurement Authority.

The Director-General of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), Dr. John Ofori-Tenkorang was awarded Procurement Transformation CEO for his contribution to transparent procurement processes, cutting down costs, procurement evaluation and monitoring at SSNIT which have invariably led to protecting the nation’s public purse.

He developed innovative insurance solutions that combined traditional insurable risks with capital market risks, which improved earnings and reduced earnings volatility for corporations.

Mr. Ofori-Tenkorang also developed alternative asset classes for pension funds to achieve better diversification.

Other special awardees include Evelyn Sam, Chief Supply Chain Officer, Airtel Tigo (Industry Personality of the Year (Private Sector), Emmanuel Fianko, Group Executive Procurement, Ghana Airport Company (Industry Personality of the Year-Public Sector), Simon Annan, Head Strategic Sourcing & Project Management; Heritage Bank (Professional of the Year-Private Sector), Stella Addo, Country Manager CIPS (Outstanding Contribution to Procurement & Supply Chain), Nana Ama Appiah; Head of General Services & Procurement; Zenith Bank (Woman Professional of the Year-Private Sector), Jacqueline Abena Appiaa Angate; Procurement Manager; GIMPA (Woman Professional of the Year-Public Sector), Richard Asante- Amoah; Council Member CISCM –GH, (Outstanding Contribution to Procurement & Supply Chain), Lawrence Dodoo, CEO, Chartered Institute of Supply Chain Management (Outstanding Contribution to Procurement & Supply Chain), Charles Taylor; Chairman, Central tender Review committee, Ministry of Finance (Outstanding Contribution to Public Procurement) and Prof. Douglas Boateng, Board Chairman, PPA Life Time Achievement Award).

MTN took home five awards as the Most Innovative Use of technology in Procurement & Supply Chain, Supplier Development Company of the Year, Excellence in Procurement & Supply Chain: Telecom, Innovative Procurement of the Year and Procurement & Supply Chain: Team of the Year (Gold) whiles Patrick Afari, General Manager, Supply Chain, MTN emerged on the top 20 Procurement Leaders list.

Other awardees such as AirtelTigo, Acccra Brewery, Gold Fields Ghana, Unilever, Kosmos Energy, Anglogold Ashanti, Labadi Beach Hotel, Strategic Securities Systems, Ghana Police Service, Volta River Authority (VRA), Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Public Procurement Authority, DVLA, Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) and others took home prestigious awards.

Victoria Akosua Nyamador, student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology 2016/2017 Academic Session was awarded the Best Procurement Student.

Other students include Gloria Boamah, Accra Technical University 2017/2018 Academic Session for being the best graduating student of the department of Purchasing & Supply Management, Antwi Stephen of Kumasi Technical University 2016/2017 Academic Session for being the best graduating student of the Department of Purchasing & Supply Management and Miss Joyce Mateko Apotsi of Takoradi Technical University 2016/2017 Academic Session for being the best graduating student of the Department of Procurement & Supply Management.
