Jamaica, that wonderful Island in the Caribbean, for many years has established its name as one of the best tourists’ destinations in the world. Above all, the country is known as a place for wonderful reggae music.

Name all the great reggae artists such as Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Jimmy Cliff, Gregory Isaacs, Joseph Hill-Culture, to mention but a few, you’ll know that all of them have something in common. They were born in Jamaica.

Apart from the reggae stars, Jamaica has produced great sprinters in the past, such as Merlene Ottey, Asafa Powell etc, yet in athletics, Jamaica isn’t all that great compared to other countries, such as the United States of America.

It was the emergence of Usain Bolt which gave recognition to Jamaica in international athletics. Bolt, who until his retirement in athletics was the fastest man in the world, won three gold medals at 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China, making him the first man in the history of Olympics to win both 100-meter and 200-meter races.

Usain Bolt, born on August 21, 1986, unique and charismatic performance, along with teammate Yohan Blake, firmly added athletics to Jamaica’s reggae history.

In the 2012 Olympics games in London, after winning the 100-meter race in 19.32 seconds, Usain became the first athlete to win two Olympic medals in the event. Yohan Blake, his training partner also claimed silver in the event and bronze for Warren Weir.

There is no doubt that Jamaicans athletes will always be a threat to the United States of America, despite that Usain Bolt, has retired in active athletics.

America beware, the Jamaican athletes are ready every time, "Coming in hot! hot! hot! And firing some shot! shot! shot!" Sings reggae legend late Peter Tosh.
