Re: Facts About The Debate Being Organized For The NPP National Youth Organizer Aspirants

Press Release Re: Facts About The Debate Being Organized For The NPP National Youth Organizer Aspirants
JUN 26, 2018 LISTEN

The performance of Sammi Awuku as the National Youth Organiser has been exceptional, even to the envy of the other political parties, and to climax it, he is seeing to the organization of a yet to be historic and worth-emulating intra party debate that has never happened anywhere in the country.

It is, therefore, surprising to see an article making rounds on social media which seeks to undermine the credibility of the National Youth Wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Critical Thinkers International (CTI) with regard to the soon to be held National Youth Organiser Aspirants' debate.

However, this statement is to set the records straight, as well as clarify any unwarranted misinformation that some purposed detractors of the programme has put out there.

The bare facts are these:
1. When the CTI Debate Organization Team met Commander Sammi Awuku and all the Aspiring Youth Organizers on Friday, April 20, 2018 at the party's national headquarters, all the aspirants commended CTI for initiating such a brilliant project. No aspirant opposed to the debate. At that same meeting, Commander Awuku asked that the questions for the debate be given to all aspirants ahead of time so they can do a thorough research on them.

2. The initial proposed date for the debate was Saturday, June 9, 2018, but Mr Awuku suggested that we move it a day after, that is Sunday, June 10, 2018. This suggestion was made in the presence of all the then six aspirants.

3. When the date for the NPP National Delegates Congress was changed, the organisers of the debate proposed to Sammi Awuku about a change in date who and he in turn suggested that the information should be communicated to the aspirants. The information of a new date was then written and officially sent to all aspirants directly, and same sent to their personal assistants. This was where Dominic Eduah, an aspirant, raised a concern through his aide that he will not be available on the New date, that is Saturday, June 30, 2018, and appealed if we could change the date but we also pleaded that there was nothing we could do about it since the next Saturday after the new date is the date for the party's national congress, that was when he said he would get back to us with his decision. That notwithstanding, all information and details of the debate were forwarded to him including the other aspirants. He later called to confirm if the debate would still come on which we said yes.

4. The questions for the debate were officially sent to all aspirants on the Sunday, June 17, 2018. It is, therefore, worrying for some purposed detractors of the debate to show utter disrespect to the likes of Hon. Dr Sheikh Mustapha Hamid, Dr Kingsley Nyarko, Hon. Kwadwo Oppong Nkrumah, Hon. Collins Owusu Amankwah, CTI and most especially Commander Sammi Awuku through their accusation of them leaking the questions to some of the contestants.

We are by this statement assuring the general public that neither Critical Thinkers International (CTI) nor the National NPP Youth Wing, under the Chairman of Commander Sammi Awuku, erred in the preliminary organizational process of the debate, particularly with the date formulation. We still and shall remain a committed group championing the cause of advocacy to make NPP, Ghana, Africa and the world great and strong.

Thank you
God is King
