President Shoots Down TV Licence Agenda – Ghanafo) Dawoase

Feature Article President Shoots Down TV Licence Agenda – Ghanafo Dawoase
JAN 12, 2018 LISTEN

A most insensitive move it was by GBC and her Director-General. You would expect that achieving a doctorate degree in some sort of discipline would instil a vast knowledge of many other faculties linked to basic survival in a society of same traditions and culture, especially ours in Ghana that preaches tight family bondage and fear of GOD; the irony! Besides, how at all would a well-to-do technocrat, who knows the suffering of his people all too well embark on a heartless agenda as prosecuting defaulters of TV licence fees? Is Dr. so oblivious to the penury of the people who sweat it out from dawn to midnight to make an income, which is barely enough to feed on, let alone carry the burden of transportation, and health issues that until the Nana Addo Presidency was unaffordable?

Shame!
Then the President heard the agitation of the masses! In fact, I knew that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo would never condone the unpopular policies that serve to bring suffering to the masses for the comfort of a few. Information that I have indicated that Mr President was so angry that he ordered the initiative be immediately revoked and shelved permanently. Yes, this is one President who listens to the people. Unlike the foul-mouthed Sammy Crabbe, who said that the President is surrounded by sycophants as to suggest that people at the presidency cloud his thinking and reasoning, the truth of the matter is that President Nana Akufo-Addo does not listen except to good counsel. If one is daring enough to go and peddle konkonsa, they will not be entertained. That is the mettle of the President that Sammy Crabbe, his tramps, and all those who do not wish the government will seek not to speak about!

So, when the ripples of anger became more clamorous than could be withstood, GBC capitulated to the vibrations and cancelled the unfriendly policies of enforcing the TV licence and prosecuting defaulters. The management of GBC should take a cue from the operations of other television stations, irrespective of its mandate as a government-owned entity. It would seem that the oligarchy wants to tap into the nation’s coffers and the pocket of the poor, too.

If the Director-General of GBC does not know how to run this SOE, then he should just tender in his resignation to pave way for the appointment of a more empathic person to run the show. The 18th-century type of broadcasting and “koliko” programmes must be looked into and raised to modern standards. Some of the naked ladies that are made to host silly programmes are unfashionable, and their ways quite inconsumable. They should sit up and raise the standards before they go scouting for prey to rip off!

Thank you, Mr President, for keeping Ghanaians your main focus of attention. Ghanafo) dawoase…!!!
