Palestine Solidarity Day Observed

The international day of the solidarity with the people of Palestine has been held with a call on the state of Israel to end their occupation on Palestinian territories

Observing the day in Accra on Thursday , the Deputy Palestinian Ambassador to Ghana, H.E Jubrael Alshomali , thanked the Ghana government and all other government for their unflinching support and believe in the Palestinian cause.

The Deputy Ambassador further added his voice for the call on the United Nations to implement the resolution 181 of 29th November 1947 which calls for the state of Palestine to be established and also allow all Palestine refugees to return to their homes.

He claimed that the UN had failed in its efforts over the years to implement the resolution based on the reason that the United States is always in support of Israel and opposed to the creation of the Palestinian state

He said that despite the failure on the part of the UN, the Palestinian people will not turn their back on the UN as they are peace loving people who will continue charting their way until peace and independent is returned to the Palestine

We want the people of both Israel and Palestine to live and coexist peacefully with each other devoid of war and any bloodshed hence Palestine choosing to chart our course in a peaceful and harmonious manner.

He noted that the UN General Assembly which always stand by the Palestine people is different from the Security Council in which Russia and China backs the Palestine cause whilst the USA and its allies of Great Britain and France always opposed the independence of the Palestine

He mentioned that many countries in Africa such as Ghana, Republic of South Africa, Algeria, Angola , Namibia and other Gulf nations such as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have been very supportive to the cause of the Palestine people

The Ambassador further mentioned that the Saudi Arabian government supports the Palestine with $ 20. Million [ USD] every year whilst the Algerian government also supports them with some unspecified financial support to run the affairs of the state.

We are working with civil society, media as well as other think tanks in the United States, France, Germany, Great Britain and other western nations to disseminate and implement our policies to ensure independence is achieved for our people

He thanked all nations, political and human rights movements that stood firmly by the side of the Palestinian right tooffer their unflinching support to our people

Ambassador Jubaer emphasized that Palestinian people will preserve with brevity until the establishment of a Democratic National State of Palestine with Arab East Jerusalem as its capital

The celebration which was adopted by the United Nations in 1947 is observed every November 29^th globally to express solidarity and support to the Palestinian people.
