Over the weekend, with joy and glamorous looks, students across various disciplines put on graduation gowns at University of Cape Coast signifying an accomplishment of a hard earned task. I say congratulations. This month of October through to the month of December will see lots of institutions following suit this same ritual of graduation and again I say congratulations. These graduations will see over One hundred thousand (100,000) graduates to add up to the already existing One million (1,000,000.00) unemployed graduates.

“If you not getting any government employment, try and start up something for yourself” These are words from government agencies who always fix their wards and relatives in these government sectors when they complete school (Cyclical employment right?)

The question that pricks and makes me wrack my mind is these same graduates will go to these big men and government agencies for support to start up something but what do we see? Wealth is not attained by silver platter, magic, it is not attained by stealing or anything but by hard work, and again the question is how this graduate gets the capital to start up something. Sometimes the funny thing is “Vacancy, Vacancy, Vacancy, the applicant must have a five years, two years, experience before employed”. So if “YOU”don’t employ him or her, how does he/she get the experience needed or required? Who should give him the experience for you to tap?

The Akufo Addo-Bawumia led government having seen these canker is devising stringent measures to block the financial leaks and corruption. These leaks when blocked could save Ghana some money to employ a certain number but in whispering I say what we need is a listening, charitable, selfless and humanitarian approach to solve these poverty and plight bemoaning and defeating the beauty of educating the Ghanaian.

You call government officials (legislative, Executives) who through these same graduates and youth gets into positions to seek either employment or support but they are unreachable.(They should know better because politics and governance is an era and these same people,we will rely on them for mandate). It doesn’t mean others are not doing their best. I can’t warn anyone but “Appointees, C.E.O’s, MMDA’s, Top Party Officials etc., don’t make the work of his Excellency be in vain. As for the public and civil heads, it will do you a great advice to help restore the hope of these unemployed youth, for the end result of unemployment can result in breeding menace which makes the society not a safe place to live.

Long Live Ghana!
Long Live the Ghanaian Youth!!
Long Live Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo!!!
Long Live Youth Activism!!!!
