By Office of Alhaji Short
Press Release Alhaji Short Wishes Ghana A Happy Nkrumah Memorial Day!!!
SEP 21, 2017 LISTEN

On the 21st September, 1909 a great hero was born at Nkroful in the Western Region of the then Gold Coast. 108 years on, we still celebrate him for your role in the formation of modern day Ghana. And undoubtedly, his birthday signifies a very essential day in the history of our nation.

Sixty years on as a country, we came a long way, we started from nothing and though not satisfied with where we are; we are proud of the peace and stability we have been enjoying over the years. People lost their lives in the struggle to ensure we enjoy freedom today and they are our heroes. Indeed, a nation that does not honour its heroes is not worth dying for.

Our history defines us, it shows where we came from and where we possibly heading to; and must therefore be well told and written. You don't celebrate the death of your father by just telling friends how he lived and what he did for you or what he wanted you to be, you celebrate him by being what he wanted you to be.

Many of our founding fathers especially the man's whose name stands tall in the independence struggle had a dream of making this nation self sufficient and his approach was making Ghana an industrialized nation where we can produce what we consume so we do not depend solely on other nations and phillantropists for basic needs and that is the path our president is on with the one district one factory initiative and that alone to me is part of the celebration. So as citizens we have to support this initiative spiritually in prayer and financially if we truly believe our founding fathers are worth celebrating.

Yes, as a 60years old nation we still have many challenges to overcome; we still depend on many other nations for support for basic needs which doesn't order well. Like Dr. Kwame Nkrumah said "Those who want to judge us just heights should do well to know the depth from which we come from".

So we have grown as a nation. We have to say Alhamdulillah for how far Allah has brought us and gradually we will get to the ‘Promised Land’ Insha Allah.

We are at a stage today where hope should be our vehicle to take us apar with other great nations. Let us therefore keep our nation in prayer at all times because that is what will show our love for Ghana.

Which ever party flag we holding should be held in our left hand and that of Ghana's flag in our right hand and raised higher than our party flag to show our love.

In summary, I am edging us all to put Ghana first for we have only one Ghana and should always be inspired by the virtues of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. I once again join the many Ghanaians, Africans and rest of the world in wishing Ghana a Happy Nkrumah Memorial Day.

#GodBlessNkrumah.
