Takoradi, July 31, GNA - The youth have been called upon to carefully prepare themselves for the job market to enable them have access to the limited job openings.

Mr Abraham Opare-Zisu, Managing Director of the South East Company Limited expressed the need for one to say jobs were difficult to come by would be an understatement because there are job opportunities in the system.

The CEO at a day's seminar on Job opportunities in the Maritime and Energy sector said the lack of information on the job market, the requisite skills employers look out for, professional certification and experience among others had accounted for the numerous unemployment in the country.

The South East Company and Support Services, a recruitment agency said it felt obligated as a corporate entity to help orient the unemployed and those seeking personal and career advancement on the opportunities, which abounded in the Western Region and how they could tap into it.

Mr Opare-Zisu said: "|This is why we have assembled industry experts in the maritime and energy sectors to tell you what it takes to be part of the industry."

He said he was hopeful that the seminar would open doors of opportunities for the youth in the Metropolis and the Region would in the not too distant future assume commanding roles in industry.

He urged the youth to take their destiny into their own hands adding: 'If you take such programmes seriously, make diligent efforts through seeking regular interaction with mentors, coupled with discipline and humility then you are good to go.

"I have come to realize that young graduates are always seeking for middle class employment and are not ready to start from scratch and progress. This also is a concern in the labour market. Job opportunities may come, but may be at the lower fringes."

He advised the youth and the unemployed to take advantage of job seminars, learn on the job and seek personal development to usher them into a bright future. GNA
