Who Is This Alhaji Mohammed Saani?

Feature Article Alhaji Mohammed Saani
JUN 9, 2017 LISTEN
Alhaji Mohammed Saani

I would rather be writing about those members among the Parliamentary Minority who inexcusably scandalized the country yesterday, June 8, when they revealed their abject ignorance about the workings of the global financial market, in particular the globally renowned Wall Street investment firm by the name of Franklin Templeton. And to fathom that these pathological numbskulls and clinical ignoramuses administered our beloved nation’s economy for the past 8 years, ought to give us great cause for concern. No wonder, Galamsey, or their reckless supervision of illegal mining activities, brought us to the brink of extinction as a species of humanity, but for the timely intervention of the Akufo-Addo-led government of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). We shall come to this aspect of yesterday’s Sit-Com in Parliament shortly.

For now, however, we must turn our attention to the equally outrageous claim by one Alhaji Mohammed Saani, that former President Jerry John Rawlings “is only one of the founding members” of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) – (See “Rawlings Is Not the Only Founder of NDC – Alhaji Saani” Yen.com.gh 6/8/17). Interestingly, people like Alhaji Saani would have the rest of us believe that Mr. Kwame Nkrumah is the sole founding-father of modern Ghana. Whatever happened to truth and honesty? Indeed, I bet my proverbial bottom-dollar that if we took a poll of all Ghanaian citizens today, regarding the history of the founding of the National Democratic Congress as a political machine or juggernaut, absolutely nobody would remember anybody by the name of Mr. Mohammed Saani’s being a founding member of this political beehive composed of largely robber-barons, certified killers, terrorists and common thieves with the shameless agenda of robbing the Ghanaian taxpayer raw and blind.

Indeed, unless he was a cabinet member of the erstwhile Provisional National Defense Council (PNDC), the direct and immediate antecedent of the National Democratic Congress, Alhaji Saani’s claim could at best be deemed as simply farcical. Somebody had better employ this clown as the Entertainment Commissioner or Secretary to the Saudi Royal Family. Or better yet, the Director-Conductor of the Mecca Cantata. Or do they have a Philharmonic Orchestra in that holiest of Islamic cities?

In his interview on Nhyira-Fm Radio, this clown ought to have provided his audience with his full-list of the so-called Founding Members of the National Democratic Congress, rather than smugly jiving about his own vacuous sense of self-importance. Indeed, just like me, yours truly, you may not like the man, but why so virulently and scandalously attempt to play fast-and-loose with the historical facts by bereaving Chairman Rawlings of his one and most unique political achievement? Actually, as we all know, the man has quite a slew of them, to be certain. Which is why if Chairman Agbotui-Rawlings emerges out of the wolfpack of hoodlums to tell us that the leadership of the National Democratic Congress is wholly composed of thoroughgoing “Greedy bastards and incorrigibly corrupt scam-artists,” nobody with his/her thinking cap intact would attempt to contradict the Prime Architect of the June 4th Revolution.

Or would Alhaji Saani also claim himself to have been one of the AK-47-toting rascals who almost overnight effectively reduced the image and reputation of the members of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) to nothing short of mercenary gigolos on the take? Yes, I would be the first to vouch that the fast-aging and decrepit Chairman Rawlings essentially spoke at the 38th Anniversary Celebration of June 4th out of pure and disconsolate bitterness. But would Alhaji Saani also boldly and honestly contradict the fearsome Butcher-of-Sogakope, when Chairman Rawlings wistfully and remorsefully asserts that “The Generals whom we summarily executed were not nearly half as corrupt and greedy as the current leadership of the National Democratic Congress”?

Wallahi-hi Insha-Allah!
