March 25, GNA - A three-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities including office, store, washrooms and playing equipment for children have been constructed for the Shelinvoya D/A Primary School in the West Maprusi District of the Northern Region.

The classroom block, which has been stocked with furniture for both teachers and pupils, is to replace the dilapidated structure of the school as well as help ease congestion in the classrooms.

Zochonis Charity Trust of the United Kingdom and the Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) funded the project, which was implemented by the Integrated Social Development Centre (ISODEC), a non-governmental organisation.

Hajia Mase Sulemana, West Mamprusi District Director of Education, who received keys to the facility during its handing over to education authorities at Shelinvoya, expressed gratitude to partners for providing the facility, which would impact on education delivery in the area.

Hajia Sulemana used the occasion to distribute 250 school uniforms to needy pupils of the school to enable them to continue their education.

Mr Eric Duorinaah, Programme Manager of VSO said the new school facility, which catered for all learning needs, would help improve education of children including girls and children with disability in the area.

Mr Andrews Mensah, West Mamprusi District Coordinating Director encouraged parents to send their children to school to enable them to realise their potential.

Mr Mensah appealed to teachers, pupils and members of the community to take good care of the new school facility to prolong its lifespan. GNA
