The Art of Leadership By Dag Heward-Mills

Some leaders behave like women in their decisions and leadership style. A woman who is not tempered by the word of God will be difficult to follow. Generally speaking, women need to be softened and toned down in order to become proper, suitable and desirable leaders. You must avoid developing a leadership style that is akin to the leadership of a woman.

4. THE 'LEADERSHIP OF A WOMAN' IS CHARACTERIZED BY WICKEDNESS.

Therefore Herodias had a quarrel against him, and would have killed him; but she could not:

For Herod feared John, knowing that he was a just man and an holy, and observed him; and when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly.

And when a convenient day was come, that Herod on his birthday made a supper to his lords, high captains, and chief estates of Galilee;

And when the daughter of the said Herodias came in, and danced, and pleased Herod and them that sat with him, the king said unto the damsel, Ask of me whatsoever thou wilt, and I will give it thee.

And he sware unto her, whatsoever thou shalt ask of me, I will give it thee, unto the half of my kingdom.

And she went forth, and said unto her mother, What shall I ask? And she said, the head of John the Baptist.

And she came in straightway with haste unto the king, and asked, saying, I will that thou give me by and by in a charger the head of John the Baptist.

And the king was exceeding sorry; yet for his oath's sake, and for their sakes which sat with him, he would not reject her.

Mark 6:19-26
A woman whose mind is uncontrolled and unrefined by the Holy Spirit and the Word of God has her thoughts characterized by wickedness. Therefore a leader who leads in this way tends to be wicked. The wickedness of Hitler and Stalin are examples of leaders who went this route.

5. THE 'LEADERSHIP OF A WOMAN' IS CHARACTERIZED BY FEARS AND INSECURITY.

And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, which she had born unto Abraham, mocking.

Wherefore she said unto Abraham, Cast out this bondwoman and her son: for the son of this bondwoman shall not be heir with my son, even with Isaac.

And the thing was very grievous in Abraham's sight because of his son.

And God said unto Abraham, Let it not be grievous in thy sight because of the lad, and because of thy bondwoman; in all that Sarah hath said unto thee, hearken unto her voice; for in Isaac shall thy seed be called.

And also of the son of the bondwoman will I make a nation, because he is thy seed.

And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread, and a bottle of water, and gave it unto Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, and the child, and sent her away: and she departed, and wandered in the wilderness of Beersheba.

Genesis 21:9-14
You must practise appropriate principles of leadership otherwise your insecurities will colour everything you do. A woman whose mind is uncontrolled and unrefined by the Holy Spirit and the Word of God has her thoughts characterized by insecurity.

Such a leader has thoughts dominated by the desire to remove threatening people rather than to make use of their strengths for the common good. Therefore one who leads like a woman tends to demonstrate his insecurity by removing people he perceives as threats to him. Fear is such a terrible thing.

Fear is often called insecurity. It is put on the same platform as witchcraft, sorcery, idolatry and murder because it has similar fruits. Be careful not to exhibit such tendencies in your leadership!

6. THE LEADERSHIP OF A WOMAN IS CHARACTERIZED BY THE NEED TO IMPRESS. I receive not honour from men.

John 5:41
You must practise appropriate principles of leadership; otherwise the need to impress people will colour everything you do. That type of leadership is characterized by a drive to give a good impression and such a leader may tend to be deceptive in his appearance.

O My people! Their oppressors are children, and WOMEN RULE OVER THEM. O My people! Those who guide you lead you astray, and confuse the direction of your paths.

Isaiah 3:12 (NASB)
In the scripture above, God declared that women and children would lead His people. The tone of this Scripture leads us to believe that it is a curse or a punishment for a group of people to be led by women or children. On the surface, this may sound a bit harsh but a little reflection and meditation on the meaning of this scripture will help us to develop our abilities to lead. Indeed, these are two curses that you must understand and avoid at all costs!
