The position of District Chief Executive is an honourable position which requires its occupant to be honourable. The credibility of who becomes a District Chief Executive is of much interest to the Chiefs, Opinion Leaders and Interest Groups and the general people within the district.
Whoever is to be appointed a DCE must have demonstrated a record of competence, incorruptibility and a unifier who has no interest in Chieftaincy dispute.
Your Excellency, it is now in the Public domain that Mr. Akomaning Asamoah is among the four (4) persons among which one is to be named the Atiwa DCE.
Your Excellency, I strongly oppose the inclusion of Mr. Akomaning Asamoah's on grounds of lack of credibility, his involvement in Kwabeng Chieftaincy dispute, Excessive Alcoholism and his attitudinal misconduct.
1. Mr. Akomaning Asamoah popularly known as U-Bukari has had his image dented in corrupt practices. As the Board Chairman of the Atiwa Rural Bank, Mr. Akomaning Asamoah connived with some staff members of the bank to embezzle a huge sum of money from the Bank's coffers which eventually led to the downfall of the Bank. Auditors report and other investigations proved that Mr. Akomaning Asamoah was a conniver in the embezzlement of fund from the Atiwa Rural Bank.
2. Chieftaincy plays a very important role in the administration of the State particularly at the District level. For this reason, whoever has interest in becoming the political head of the district (DCE) must have no stains as much as chieftaincy dispute is concern. The contrary can be said about Mr. Akomaning Asamoah. This man was and is actively involved in the chieftaincy dispute of Akyem Kwabeng (Okyehene Gyaase).
He belongs to one of the factions of the Okyehene Gyaase chieftaincy dispute and he is known as the perpetuator of the violence which erupted in the chieftaincy dispute.
At the topmost heat of the Kwabeng Chieftaincy dispute, while the Chiefs and Opinion Leaders within the District and the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council were using all means to bring calmness to Kwabeng, Mr. Akomaning Asamoah mobilized and incited some youth at Kwabeng to go on rampage and vandalized the Chief chosen by the Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Payin (Okyehene)
This case is still pending at the Kibi Circuit Court.
3. Also, Mr. Akomaning Asamoah at post as Atiwa NPP chairman, indulged in many dishonourable acts which nearly divided the party. His utterances drove many from the party. As party Chairman, Mr. Akomaning Asamoah stole a corn mill machine which was given to the constituency to work and generate revenue to support the party financially at the constituency level.
4. Mr. Akomaning Asamoah is addicted to alcoholism. On countless times, Mr. Asamoah has been picked from gutters while drunk.
5. Mr. Akomaning Asamoah is the blood brother to the outgoing Atiwa DCE - Hon. Atta Twum of NDC.
People are therefore angry upon hearing his name as among the final four. The position of Atiwa DCE is not a dynasty.
Has the position of a DCE been reduced to this level? Ever since he joined the DCE race, people have questioned and are still questioning his credibility and wonder why the party has allowed him to be in the race till now.
DCE is the representative of the President at the district level hence the occupant of that position must not be the one who will bring shame to the district, the party and the President.
Upon the above issues I have raised, I state categorically that Mr. Akomaning Asamoah has no credibility to apply for the position of Atiwa DCE.
His appointment as Atiwa DCE will cost the district and the political party he belongs.
I challenge whoever doubt the above issues I have raised to as a matter of urgency, institute a thorough investigation into the issues.
Atiwa is a cosmopolitan district which needs an experience, competent, unifier and a corruption free person to manage it resources for development.
