A Coalition of Progressive Comrades Arising For Change (COPCAC) was last Tuesday outdoored at a brief but momentous function in Accra.

The COPCAC activity was climaxed with their joining the New Patriotic Party (NPP), which was witnessed by Lawyer Mike Oquaye Jnr, a member of the National Secretariat of the NPP.

Their motto 'Arise For Change' ties in with the campaign message of change in the political leadership of the country.

“COPCAC is a grouping of CPP, PNC and NDC members who have resolved to join the NPP and work to attract more members of their former parties and floating voters to change course and vote for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and NPP parliamentary candidates all over the country,” they said, adding that they have been in operation for the past four months but have just announced their presence.

Describing their move as borne out of nationalism, they stated at the press conference that in the past eight years, the NDC has been riddled with misplaced priorities, mismanagement, dissipation and outright theft of scarce national resources, leaving in its wake a burdensome national debt portfolio and high cost of living among other challenges.

An objective comparison of the 16 years of the NDC and the 8 years of the NPP leaves no critical analyst about the supremacy of the NPP's record of governance, they said.

The statement signed by chairman of the coalition, Simon Justice Akaboh, Secretary Samuel Oduro and Communication Advisor Mohammed H. Yakubu, observed that the NPP boasts of the best brains capable of harnessing the resources of “our rich country and moving the country forward to where it belongs for the benefit of all.”

Nana's incorruptibility, they went on “is legendary. His commitment not to steal the people's wealth has been tested and confirmed. This rare quality is what Africa needs today.”

The removal of John Mahama and the NDC from power is a task for all Ghanaians who have the welfare of the generality of our people at heart, they said.
