Accra, Sept. 1, GNA - The Technical Vocational Education Training (TVET) introduced by the National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI) is a master key that would help alleviate poverty, promote peace and also conserve the environment.

It would also help improve the quality of life for all and also help to achieve sustainable development.

Mr Stephen Asomani, Greater Accra Regional Co-ordinator of the NVTI, said this at the graduation ceremony of the MAB Health Training Institute in Accra

It was on the theme ''Unveiling the Potentials of Healthcare Assistants in the Healthcare Delivery System''.

Mr Asomani said the TVET programmes was a master key because it was only vocational and technical education such as healthcare and other vocational programmes that could drastically reduce the canker of unemployment that is gradually eating deep into the Ghanaian youth.

He said the NVTI has also created a path for further academic progression for all graduates.

This path, Mr Asomani said, has further been deepened by the introduction of NVTI-National Board for Professional and Technician Examination (NABPTEX) Core Examinations collaboration which allows certificate holders to write only the NABPTEX Core Examinations to enable them pursue High National Diploma (HND) and other degree programmes at the various Polytechnics and Universities.

He urged the graduating students to take advantage of these opportunities in order to progress both horizontally and vertically.

Mr Asomani said the NVTI was committed to guide all stake holder institutions with its core values which includes pursuit of excellence, teamwork, truth, honesty and integrity, cost-effectiveness and respect for all.

Dr Jacob Akuamoah-Boateng, Chief Executive Officer of MAB Group of Companies, said the MAB Health Training Institute plans to introduce programmes such as Medicine Counter Assistantship, Laboratory Technology, Physiotherapy and Reflexology to enable graduates fill in the various positions on the job market.

He said the Institute was providing more facilities where students can use as lecture halls and ultra- modern demonstration rooms.

''We are also liaising with foreign health institutions and hospitals where our students can travel on educational tours and for exchange programmes'', Dr Akuamoah-Boateng said.

Students who excelled in their various courses were given special awards.
