Agboga elected Presiding Member of Ho Municipal Assembly

Ho, Feb. 4, GNA - Mr Simon Kofi Agboga, a Technician and Lecturer at the Ho Polytechnic was on Thursday elected Presiding Member of the Ho Municipal Assembly.

Mr Agboga, Assembly Member for Toviadzi in the Ho Municipality, who was the sole candidate polled 49 out of 51 total votes cast. He takes over from Mr Francis Kwaku, an Educationist. Mrs Vida Dzobo, Headmistress of Dora Memorial School Complex in Ho was also elected to join Mr Agboga to represent the Municipality in the Electoral College made up of representatives of the 15 district assemblies in the Region to elect the Region's representative to the Councils of State.

In handing over the staff of office to the new Presiding Member, the outgoing Presiding Member, Mr Kwaku congratulated Mr Agboga on his election and thanked the Assembly for its support during his tenure of office.

In his acceptance speech, Mr Agboga called for the co-operation of members to enhance his effectiveness. He appealed to the government to put in place effective measures towards resolving the tussle between Kpetoe and Adaklu over the location of the capital of the newly created Adaklu-Anyigbe District, which was carved out of the former Ho District Assembly. "Government must utilise all conflict resolution mechanisms to end this conflict because it is getting too long with its negative rippling effects", he said.

Members of the Assembly who were from the electoral areas in Adaklu, Agortime and Ziope, now Adaklu-Anyigbe District were present as observers.
