Accra, Dec. 17, GNA - The National Executives of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) on Friday urged drivers to avoid overloading and drinking of alcohol during Christmas and New Year season. "Your passengers count on you to reach their destinations and return safely. Let us resolve to be our brother's keeper in the transport industry," it said.

The union also called on drivers to strictly adhere to the existing approved lorry fares during and after the festivities, as an incentive to commuters throughout the country.

The GPRTU reminded its members that there is now stiff competition in the transport industry and they should therefore, treat their customers with utmost care to win their confidence for the union to retain its position as the number one public transport operators in the country.

Mr Manu said there was the need for reconciliation in the transport sector to ensure smooth operations in the sector for better services to be rendered the public.
