The EC hopes to introduce the new logo ahead of the November polls.

‘’One will think that in a time like this when we have 14 days to a registration, there are still very critical aspects of this process to be met…On the whole, general election calendar, we have already missed some timelines. Already the issue of the register remains unresolved…Any little time the commission has should be geared towards practically working out these modalities,’’ director of elections of the NPP, Martin Agyei Mensah-Korsah told Joy News’ Kwakye Afreh-Nuamah after an IPAC meeting on Thursday.

‘’To bring in the issue of a logo, one wonders what the relevance is and is that a priority?’’ the NPP man quizzed.

Mr Agyei Mensah Korsah adds: ‘’Indeed, we’ve seen the firm’s logo, if you compare to the commission’s logo, it’s exactly the same thing; plagiarized. It is becoming a national embarrassment if the national electoral commission copies the logo of another company. It’s a bit worrying.’’

But the governing National Democratic congress disagreed with the NPP.

Director of Elections of the NDC, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, who was also at Thursday’s IPAC meeting told Afreh-Nuamah political parties, must not be worried about which logo the EC decides to adopt.

‘’We as a political party, we are not concerned about the Electoral Commission’s logo because it does not play any part in the electoral process we are going to organize.

“The Electoral Commission is a body and if a body is going to change their logo why should we concern ourselves about it…Bastardizing the electoral commission and then trying to portray them in a negative light is not good for the sustenance of the institution. So I don’t think we as a political party are going to concern ourselves with EC logo. We don’t have time for that,” he said.

The EC is expected to outdoor the logo before the end of April.
