Andani youth calls for the retrieval of Yana's missing regalia

GNA

Tamale, Nov. 17, GNA - The Andani Youth Association of Dagbon, on Tuesday urged all well meaning citizens of the Dagbon Traditional Area, to support the efforts by the Otumfuo's Mediation Committee, to retrieve all regalia looted during an attack on the late Yana's Palace in 2002.

The Association, which is a youth wing of the Andani faction in the Yendi chieftaincy crises, said the recovery of the regalia would pave the way for the burial of the late Yana Yakubu Andani II. Mr Andani Mahama, Secretary of the Association who addressed a news conference in Tamale, appealed to the Government to look for the murderers of the Yana and his elders and bring them to justice to ensure lasting peace in Dagbon.

He expressed the need for the security agencies to retrieve all offensive weapons in the area.

The murder of the Yana had escalated the protracted chieftaincy feud between the andanis and abudus, leading to considerable tension in the traditional area.
