Accra, Jan. 12, GNA - An Accra Circuit Court has remanded Nathaniel Adjetey, a mechanic, in police custody for possession of narcotic drug without lawful authority.

The accused person, who pleaded not guilty, would re-appear on January 20.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Kweku Bempah told the court presided over by Mr Aboagye Tandoh that the complainants in the case were policemen stationed at Tesano, with the Police Central Band.

He said another complainant in the case was a trader, resident at Lapaz.

The prosecution said during the month of October, last year, the accused person asked one Eric to collect 'Shiasha' equipment from the trader (complainant) to work with but rather bolted with it.

DSP Bempah said on December 31, the same year at about 21 hours, the trader spotted the accused person at Tawala Beach at South La, a suburb of Accra and sought the assistance of the policemen to arrest him.

He said the accused person came to the beach to sell his 'Shiasha' when he was arrested and a search in a fertilizer bag he was holding revealed 70 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, 17 piece of toffee, a pack of biscuit and two capsules all suspected to be made with Indian hemp.

In his caution statement, the accused person denied ownership of the above mentioned items.
