UN Proposal Puerto Rico Decolonization 2015

Latin America & Caribbean UN Proposal Puerto Rico Decolonization 2015
JUN 2, 2015 LISTEN

Dear Secretary General Ban Ki-moon,

Greetings from Puerto Rico.

This year's Puerto Rico decolonization hearing will be on Monday, June 22, 2015. I have tried to find out if the United Nations will transmit it live. This hearing is not broadcast live in Puerto Rico or anywhere else in the world. Therefore it is incumbent on the entity that certified colonialism to be a crime against humanity to do it.

Obviously the United States (US) government has no intentions of broadcasting it, as evidenced by the fact that it has ignored 33 United Nations Resolutions asking it to immediately decolonize Puerto Rico. Further analysis of the evidence makes it clear that the US government is predominately motivated by capitalism, and not human rights or the rule of law.

If the US government were motivated by the rule of law, then it would have decolonized Puerto Rico in 1960 when the UN declared colonialism illegal. But, it chose to ignore the rule of law (international law), because for every dollar it invests in Puerto Rico, it takes back $14.

The UN is in its third decade trying to eradicate world colonialism. If it really wants to achieve a decolonized world, I suggest that a good next step would be to begin to broadcast these annual Puerto Rico decolonization hearings on its radio and TV Webcast. That way, people all over the world would be able to hear and witness live what happens at these hearings. That would then help us greatly to develop the appropriate level of determination to achieve a colonized-free world.

In your yearly talk to the Special Committee for Decolonization, you stress the need for innovation and inclusion of the colonized people. As a resident of the colonized nation of Puerto Rico, I have respectfully submitted to the UN, through its Secretary General, my innovative strategy to achieve our goal before the end of our third decade dedicated to world decolonization. I hope to receive from you soon the news that the UN has decided to implement my proposal.

Puerto Rico decolonization is taking much too long. Too long is not good, because, as Dr. King said, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”

Join our 2nd Oscar – Mandela March on Monday, June 22, 2015!

Sincerely,

Jose M. Lopez Sierra
