As Uganda prepares for General elections next year, many interested

personalities have decided to join the race regardless of their careers, among them is a 26 year old journalist who has decided to put down his Gadgets vying for a municipality seat in Uganda’s parliament come 2016.

Abubakar sematimba got a chance to interview Mr Mukasa Abdallah and this is

what he had to say.
AS: Good day Mr Mukasa can you may be start by introducing yourself?

MA: I am Abdallatif Mukasa 26 years old from Busia in the eastern part of the

country Uganda.
I’m probably one of the youth full, if not the only one warming up for a

Municipality parliamentary seat in my area.
AS: What are you doing for the time being?
MA: I am a journalist working with Record Television; I hold political talk

shows, UG On Air and Public Platform respectively, I am also a parliamentary

reporter.
AS: I understand you have decided to put down your Camera to join the

political race in the forth coming elections, what has prompted you to do so?

MA: I see a number of gaps in the leadership of Busia Municipality, there is

no effective representation in Busia Municipality, and too me we are not

represented at all.
The poor relationship between leaders and the rest of the people has kept

Busia in the Shadows of Development.
We need a louder and audible voice that can articulate the issues in Busia,

the Incumbent in her capacity has done her best, but she can’t go beyond her

potential, you can’t force a (DMC) car to take you extra miles that is how

politics also is.
AS: What are you offering or promising the people of Busia, come 2016?

MA: As a new Member of Parliament for Busia Municipality, I need to ensure

that we establish a strong relationship with Voters, promote Justice, Rule of

law and Citizens participation in governance.
This also helps in the generation of more ideas to present to the floor of

parliament.
We need thorough engagement with voters to enhance accountability, Mps are

paid Tax payers Money but we are seeing no impact on ground.

AS: Is there any other problem and how are you going to tackle it?

MA: The misplacement of leaders is another strong factor hindering

development; someone deserves to be a Village Councilor and s/he is elected in a more sensitive Office, at the end no impact is being realized in the

community and this is what we call, miss appropriation of the resources.

Government programs have been failed by our own leaders, Youth Livelihood

Fund has issues in Busia Municipality , and no one can rise up to make things right.

I am the best candidate for the seat in 2016, for a number of reasons, being a Parliamentary Journalist; I have knowledge of Parliamentary proceedings.

Am very much exposed and have knowledge on a number of issues that will enable me effectively represent the people of Busia Municipality.

I have closely worked with women, Youth and indeed, Victory is in my hands.

AS: What more would you like the reader to know more about you?

MA: I had political ambitions right from childhood and I have been a leader at different levels from my first day at School.

I attended Mawero Islamic School in Busia, Bishop willis P.S in Iganga, Busia

High school, Busia Trust and Makerere secondary school for A ‘Level.

I hold a Bachelors Degree in Mass Communication.
AS: Any Achievement in your career so far at your age?

MA: I won the Best Broadcast media Journalist Award for 2014 in the Tumain Awards program.

AS: what Political organization are you representing?

MA: Am representing Justice Forum (JEEMA), a political party that advocates for justice, Education, economic revitalization and African Unity.

AS: What is your Party motto?
MA: Justice for All.
AS: Thank you so much for your time.
MA: you are welcome brother Abubakar.
