06.09.2014 LISTEN

A group calling itself, Group of NDC Grassroots in Greater Accra Region, a communication unit of the ruling National Democratic Congress(NDC) are calling on the party leadership to quickly caution Mr. Joseph Kobina Ade Coker, Greater Accra Regional Chairman of NDC and his cohorts to desist from wanton disqualification of aspiring candidates for various Constituency Executive positions within the Greater Accra Region.

They have therefore threatened to advise themeselves by forfeiting their votes for NDC come december, 2016 elections if nothing concrete is done to resolve the issues raised by them.

The group claimed they have intercepted information and documents of a grandiouse scheme by the incumbent Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the party, Kobina Ade Coker of grand ploy to disqualify aspiring candidates in various constituency Executive positions in the regions especially perceived candidates rooting for other aspirants for other aspirants for the same position.

Presenting a statement on behalf of the group at a press briefing in Accra today, 5th September, Coordinator of the group, Mr. Samuel Noble Twum-Asamoah disclosed the information gathered per the vetting committees for the various constituencies indicated that the Regional Chairman has in possession of names and positions of aspiring constituency candidates whose loyalty is to the other contestants vying for similar position.

According to him, this has led to the generation of a grandiouse scheme by the incumbent to disqualify potential candidates from contesting the Constituency Elections.

He further revealed that the information gathered by the group also indicated widespread disqualifications of members by Mr. Ade Coker whose standing dates back as far as 1992 using frivolous excuses which are largely baseless.

He also hinted that in some instances, the Substantive Constituency Chairmen who failed to produce their NDC Membership Identity cards were left off the hook whilst other aspirants were disqualified even though met requirements.

"We think that the leadership should quickly call Mr. Ade Coker and his cohorts to order so as to forstall any court . The abuse of incumbency has reached levels that will disorganise party loyalty and commitment should these continue. he stressed.

He said"these nefarious schemes are widespread in the region and many of the discontent aspirants are taking steps for legal remedy".

We, the Group of NDC Grassroots In Greater Accra Region are calling on the leadership to quickly intervene to forestall any action that will not inure to the Great Akatamanso Party because of greed of a few" the group stated.

Meanwhile, the group is also calling on the leadership of the party to come out and publish the names of the aspiring candidates who have passed or failed the vetting interview.

The group has also threatened to use other means possible to resolve issues if the leadership does not comply with their bidding.
