NPP Give aspirants fair chance to campaign Kwesi Pratt advises NPP
JUL 10, 2014 LISTEN

The Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr has advised members of the New Patriotic Party to desist from making uncomplimentary remarks about aspiring flag bearers of the party and “give them a fair chance to campaign”.

Speaking on Adom FMs morning show 'Dwaso Nsεm' he said, recent wrangling among party members with regard to who leads the party as flag bearer, are unfounded.

Seven individuals have filed to contest the flagbearership slated tentatively for December 6, 2014. They include: Asuogyaman MP Kofi Ameyaw Osei, former Trade Minister Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, party's two times presidential candidate Nana Akufo-Addo, former Information Minister Stephen Asamoah Boateng, former Trade Minister Alan Kyeremanten, Member of Parliament for Essikan/Ketan, Joe Ghartey and his colleague from  Mampong Francis Addai Nimoh.

The aspirants paid Gh¢10,000 before picking nomination forms while filing cost them Gh¢75,000 making it a total of Gh¢85,000.

However there has been a lot of bickering among party members as to who is in the right position to lead the party as flagbearer with others openly declaring their support for some candidates.

Kwesi Pratt expressed disgust at the inappropriate language used by some party members on radio and TV.

He went on to say “a party who honours democracy is the party that will be voted into power”.

Instead of fighting among each other, the party should come together and make contributions which will be beneficial to the party and the country as a whole, he stated.

He stressed that if party members especially those who speak on media platforms cannot unite the party with their comments, then each aspirant should get their own communication specialist to save the party from disgrace.

He said members of the party should allow the party constitution to operate and not be in a hurry to make decisions for the electorate.

He has advised elders in the party to ensure that laid down rules in the party are strictly followed by all members without regard to their political ranking.
