The flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo, has wished President John Evans Atta Mills well as he goes for medical check-up in the USA.
President Mills on Saturday night left Accra to the US 'for a few days' for 'medical check-up' after speculation went viral on social media networks that he was dead.
In dispelling the rumours prior to his departure, President Mills said: 'Let me just say that I'm very, very strong and I don't know the basis for saying that I am dead.'
Nana Akufo-Addo, the main contender to President Mills in the 2012 presidential race, upon hearing the news told Ghanaians in a statement: 'He [Mills] takes with him the thoughts and prayers of all Ghanaians who wish him good health and a safe return to duty in a few days.'
'I hope the checks go well and he comes back fit and strong,' Nana Addo said.
