Citizens of three Northern Regions asked to fight poverty

Wa, Feb.28, GNA – Citizens of the Upper West, Upper East and Northern Regions (the three northern regions), have been asked to unite and fight against poverty.

They were reminded that without peace and stability, the areas would continue to lag behind in development.

Mr. Abdulai Abdul-Malik, President of the Dagbon Students Association (DASA) of the Wa Campus of the University for Development Studies (UDS), made the call at the Damba Dance celebration to unite the students and show case the culture of Dagbon, in Wa at the weekend.

The occasion was on the theme: “Unity in Development of Northern Ghana – The role of Dagbon Students Association (DASA), UDS Wa-Campus”.

Alhaji Amidu Sulemana, Upper West Regional Minister, in a speech read on his behalf, called on the students to use the occasion to bury their differences and unite for the development of the area

He appealed to people in the three Northern Regions to peacefully co-exist and support government for their development.

Alhaji Amidu Sulemana advised youth associations in the regions to promote educate, and asked the people to register when the biometric voters' registration opens next month.

The students exhibited skills in Damba, Takai and Tora dances to the admiration of the people.
