Accra, July 3, GNA - Dr Richard Anane, Minister of Roads and Transport has stated that some of the roads in the Volta Region had been programmed for spot improvement this year while engineering studies and design work are completed. Dr Anane said this in Parliament on Thursday when he answered questions from the NDC MP for Buem, Mr. Emil Kwadzo Brantuo as to what plans the Ministry of Roads and Transport has for the rehabilitation of the road from Nsuta through Kayadan to Koesim in his constituency to facilitate the transportation of foodstuffs and cocoa to the market centres.

The Minister said the Nsuta-Ketsi Nkwanta-Koesim feeder road in the Jasikan District of the Volta Region had neither been engineered nor seen any maintenance and that it has been programmed for spot improvement this year. He said engineering studies and design was completed last month and that procurement processes for the construction works has just been initiated while invitation for bids for the works had been advertised. On the Old Ayoma-Baglo Station feeder road, which leads to the Ghana-Togo border at Baglo, Dr Anane said engineering studies and design have been completed about a month ago but for the meantime the road has been programmed for spot improvement this year while awaiting for bids for the works.
