Planning is bringing the future into the present so that you can do something about it now.

Friend, if you want to achieve greatly in life and have your name engraved in letters of gold in the sands of time, then you have no option but make planning a permanent feature of your life. Planning is the number one secret of top-notch achievers in every field of human endeavour.

By planning we mean having a strategy in place and working on it in order to achieve a particular result. In every field of endeavour, planning precedes goal accomplishment. It is sort of a road map indicating the steps one must take to turn one's dreams into reality.

When you plan, you think carefully before you act. Planning involves an assessment of your situation, the means and resources available and a commitment to act with unwavering determination until the desired results have been achieved.

Planning should help you achieve worthwhile goals. That should be your responsibility and no one else.

You can have the best plans in the world, but they will do you no good unless you take action on them.

When you plan, believe in it and after that, act and never give up until you have attained your objectives. Stephen A. Brennan, a great thinker said it so well when he said, “Our goals can only be reached through a vehicle of a plan, in which we must fervently believe, and upon which we must vigorously act. There is no other route to success.” William Danforth teaches that: “No plan is worth the paper it is printed on unless it starts you doing something”. There are two keys to the issue of planning, believing and acting on them.

If you don't believe in your plan who else will? Who will do what you will not do yourself?

Planning is a major key to success in life. It helps you think deeply about what to do in order to make it in life.

You need planning to keep focused on what is most important to you. Broken focus is one leading cause of failure. You can get on top of your problems with good planning.

Planning helps you to make judicious use of available resources. It helps to eliminate or minimize waste.

When you plan, it helps to raise your confidence level. No serious boxer will ever enter the ring without having adequately prepared himself in the first place. In like manner, no athlete will run a race without serious preparation.

No comedian will mount the stage without first rehearsing. Planning will give you an edge over your competitors. It will help you become a winner in life.

As I have said, planning is your responsibility; however this should not stop you from getting the input of the experts. You can get the input of like-minded people, the ones that believe in your vision, mission and values. These are the people who will support your efforts to succeed.

Planning will help you do excellent things. Look at the universe and everything that is in it. What does that suggest to you? A master planner must have been behind it all. That master planner was God himself.

Jesus, undoubtedly the greatest man who ever lived on this earth taught his followers about the importance of planning when he said, “For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it? Luke 14:28 Would you start putting up a house without a building plan?

Planning is a good thing to do. It makes you do things methodically. Of course without discipline one cannot execute one's plans to their logical conclusion.

Planning will produce exceptional results. In Prov. 21:5, the word of God says, “The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty.”

Success in life requires that you follow the rules of success. There are no short cuts to successful achievement and those who have tried to circumvent the rules have landed themselves in big trouble. There are many of such people languishing in prison.

Always look for the best information to formulate your plans. When you do that you have a greater chance of succeeding. Think about what you want to do. Ask questions. Read around your goals.

Register and attend seminars organized by the experts. Undergo apprenticeship if possible.

Look for those who have achieved what you are after and model after their success habits. Find out what they did and do the same, you will get the same results they have. It is the road map of uncommon achievers.

In conclusion, planning is indispensable to success. H. Stanley Judd has said it all when he remarked, “A good plan is like a road map: it shows the final destination and usually the best way to get there.”
