The Spokesperson for the Rawlingses, Mr Kofi Adams has taken a swipe at Obed Asamoah, former Chairman of the NDC and the life-patron of the defunct Democratic Freedom Party over his claims that contrary to popular belief, former president Jerry Rawlings is not the founder of the NDC.

According to the Spokesperson who was speaking to the press Thursday at the former president's burnt down residence, now referred to as Ground Zero , Dr Obed Asamoah's comments must not be taken seriously.

Dr Obed Asamoah in an interview on Joy FM's Super Morning Show on Monday, October 10, said the NDC has no founder but founders stating, 'I have the list (of founders) - because I was instrumental in the formation of the party and the registration of the party with the Electoral Commission - and …it would interest you to note that that list doesn't contain President Rawlings.'

He revealed that it was in 1998 that the NDC constitution was amended to say 'the party was founded on President Rawlings' ideals and that is what he and his supporters interpret to mean that he is the founder [of the NDC]. Well, I cannot be responsible for that kind of interpretation, can I'?

But answering a question on the comments, Kofi Adams quizzed 'Do you believe that? Do you take that comment serious; Do you take his argument serious? We don't base our arguments on people we should not take serious.'

Touching on the merger between the NDC and the DFP, Mr Adams said Dr Asamoah and followers can only become members of the NDC by applying to a branch of the party and that branch accepting their application.

According to him, 'There is a way of joining the NDC, if he (Obed Asamoah) wants to come back to the NDC, he will go to a branch and apply [and] if the branch accepts him, he becomes a member that's all then he works for the party.'
