Glo Mobile Ghana is to launch its mobile network by the end of the year with competitive pricing and unique products and services that are second to none, the Group Chief Operating Officer of Globacom, Mohammed Jameel, has assured.

Speaking at a press conference in Accra yesterday to unveil George Andah as the new Chief Operating Officer for Glo Ghana, Mr Jameel said the company would deliver on its promise when it finally rolls out its operations.

'The best is yet to come as we prepare to launch our mobile network in Ghana by the end of this year,' Mr Jameel stated.

He said his outfit would build Africa's biggest and best telecommunication brand, noting that the company's recent rating as the most valuable brand in Africa showed that it was on the right track.

'We wish to assure that we shall not rest on our oars until we achieve this noble objective,' Mr Jameel pledged.

He said professionals, who obtained first or second class upper degrees in school and had distinguished themselves in their chosen careers, stood a better chance of being recruited by Globacom.

The new Chief Operating Officer for Glo Ghana, George Andah, on his part, said his focus would be on the customer, who expected value for money and quality network.

'My focus is not on competition but to help contribute my quota to making Globacom the most robust, valuable and preferred telecommunications company in Ghana,' the former Chief Marketing Officer of MTN Ghana, stated.

Mr Andah, who until recently was the Chief Marketing Officer of Airtel Nigeria said: 'Joining Globacom is a moment of pride for me and I am impressed with the galaxy of staff working in the company.'

George Andah is one of the most reputable personalities in the business of marketing. Educated at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biochemistry and subsequently at the University of Ghana Business School, Mr. Andah comes to Glo with a cumulative wealth of experience which he draws from active work at different levels of the industry in various capacities.

He launched his career from an advertising agency, MMRS Ogilvy, as a marketing communications specialist where he was an account director for a little over a year.

From the agency, Mr. Andah had a brief stint with Guinness Ghana Limited in January 1999 as Brands Manager for Guinness Foreign Extra Stout and subsequently joined SG-SSB Bank as Head of the 'Sika' Card Centre.

He held this position for three years, helping the bank to widen and strengthen the customer base of the financial card.

In May 2003, Mr. Andah was attracted once again to Guinness Ghana Breweries where, for over a period spanning nearly five years, he took up various key appointments, including Innovations Manager and Marketing Manager for the Stouts.

From October 2006 to September 2007, Mr Andah's successes in these positions earned him the appointment as Marketing Director of Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited, a position he held with distinction over a year before he set his eyes on more exciting challenges- the emerging telecommunications sector.

In February 2007, he joined Scancom Limited, a member of the MTN Group, as Chief Marketing Officer. Just a little over a year after entering the telecommunications industry, Mr. Andah was voted by the Charted Institute of Marketing (Ghana) as the Marketing Practitioner of the Year.

Moving on once again, he accepted an offer from Bharti Airtel Nigeria in October 2010, where he served for a period as Chief Marketing Officer for Airtel's Nigeria operation.
