March 31, 2011
Kpassa (V/R), March 31, GNA - Mr Henry Ametepe, Volta Regional Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has urged the executives and members of the party to remain steadfast and united for a resounding victory in 2012 general election.

He said it would be a disservice for members and supporters of the party to allow parochial agenda to disintegrate the rank and file and mar the fortunes of the party.

Mr Ametepe was speaking at the election of the Non-functional Executives of the party in the Nkwanta North Constituency at Kpassa, in the Nkwanta North District.

Mr Kofi Batigna, Alex Boame, Stephen Njochala, Johnson Tawiah, Rose Kwao, Kwasi Bagol, Iddrisu Muntala and Nilason Konja were elected under the supervision of Mr Alfred Amedeka of the Electoral Commission.

This is a requirement of the NDC Constitution, which stipulates the election of 14-member functional executives, eight-member Non-functional Executives and the co-option of additional five-Executives from identifiable organisations, who constitute the Constituency Executive Committee members.

The election was deferred due to a stalemate among the rank and file.

Mr Ametepe exhorted the constituency executives to avoid factionalism, stay united and place the party in a strategic position to wrest power from the sole Parliamentary seat being occupied by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the region.

Alhaji Anas Anakwa, Vice Chairman of the constituency appealed to the executive members to re-strategise towards annexing the Nkwanta North Parliamentary seat from the NPP.

Mr Batigna, on behalf of the non-functional group thanked the delegates for the trust reposed in them and pledged to bury their differences and work for the party's unity and victory.
