A DEPUTY Minister of Education, Mrs. Elizabeth Amoah-Tetteh says government will continue to expand facilities in Senior High Schools, especially with the less endowed ones.

She has, therefore, urged students in less endowed Senior High schools not to allow the challenges facing their schools to narrow their scope to acquiring knowledge.

Speaking at the first speech and prize giving day and 20th anniversary of Akrofuom Senior High Technical School at Akrofuom in the Adansi Fomena district in Ashanti region recently, the Minister stressed 'your challenges should not narrow your scope to your acquisition of knowledge, neither should it be a set back to your pursuit for discipline and development of skills through curricula activities.'

The theme for the celebration was -'promoting quality education in less-endowed Senior High Technical Schools, challenges and prospects'.

She commended the MP for Akrofuom,  Kwabena Appiah-Pinkrah for the role he is playing in ensuring quality education delivery in the area, and urged the students to be disciplined and morally upright at all times.

Mr. Kwabena Appiah-Pinkrah on his part expressed hope that with the support and collaboration from all stakeholders, the school would be provided with a modern science laboratory and library complex by 2014.

He mentioned a number of projects he had embarked on with the support from the MP's Common Fund, including the construction of teachers' bungalows for the school.

The District Chief Executive for Adansi South, Mr. Benjamin Anhwere hinted that the assembly would soon begin the construction of three-unit teachers' quarters to help solve the accommodation problem of the staff.

Nana Asirifi Asare II, the Kontihene of Edubiase Divisional Area who represented the acting President of the Adansi Traditional Council, Okofo Sobin Kan II emphasized the Council's commitment towards quality education delivery.

Nana Asirifi added that since Technical Education was essential to the growth and development of every nation, there was the need for the chiefs and people of the area to desist from acts that had the tendency of retarding the development of the school.

The headmaster of the school, Mr. Peter Amponsah attributed the school's low enrollment level to a number of factors, including the lack of staff bungalows, assembly hall and science laboratory.
