Bolgatanga, June 30, GNA - The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) is supporting 100 households in the Builsa District to go into maize farming.
The Upper East Regional Director of NADMO, Mr. Patrick Akake, said this when he briefed the Regional Platform Members on NADMO activities on Tuesday.
The occasion was also used to inaugurate the 11 member Regional Platform Committee.
He said NADMO in collaboration with the United Nations Office for the coordination of Humanitarian Affairs is funding the project, adding that a tractor was already on the site, seeds procured and fertilizers to be provided soon.
Mr. Akake said NADMO also provided relief support to victims of rain and windstorms in Builsa, Garu-Tempane and the Kassena-Nankana East districts.
He noted that during the first quarter of this year, the Region registered two major disasters which included the outbreak of the Cerebro-Spinal Meningitis.
Mr Akake said the Regional Health Directorate with support from NADMO procured vaccines and administered them to some people in the region especially in the Bongo District which was hardest hit and said the situation was brought under control.
