The MEMBER of Parliament (MP) for Subin, Mr. Isaac Osei, has donated GH¢500 towards the setting up of an ICT Laboratory at the Uaddara Basic and Junior High schools at Adum in Kumasi.

Mr. Edward Osei, Co-ordinator of the MP's Secretariat, who presented the cheque covering the amount to the school on behalf of the MP, during the first graduation day last week Wednesday, also pledged to donate five computers to the school when the ICT lab is completed.

He stressed on the importance of ICT, which he said, was taking over the educational system at all levels, and hoped the teachers would encourage the pupils to take up computer skills.

Mr. Osei further announced that the MP would institute an award for the Most Improved Student in ICT, to assess the level of growth.

The Headmistress of the school, Mrs. Patience Donkor, received the cheque on behalf of the school, and expressed her appreciation to the MP for the financial support.

She hoped that the assistance would go a long way to enhance the Global Partnership Programme in ICT, involving Uaddara Schools and the Selwood Anglican Methodist of Frone in London.

The ICT instructor for the eight clusters of Uaddara Schools, Mr. Charles Kusi Amankwa, indicated that a Best Student in ICT Award would be instituted, to encourage the students to take the learning of ICT serious.

He pledged to ensure that the ICT programme was sustained for the benefit of the Global Partnership Programme, the students, and Ghana as a whole. Mrs. Nana Yaa Darko, of Darko Farms, presided over the graduation ceremony.
