Court remands apprentice mechanic in police custody for defilement

An Akim Swedru Circuit Court has remanded Emmanuel Kyei 19, an apprentice mechanic from Akim Aboabo into police custody for allegedly threatening to stab a 15-year-old girl and defiling her.

Kyei pleaded not guilty and would re-appear on April 16.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Ben Osei Kwadwo told the court presided over by Mr Kofi Akrowiah that the victim was a first year JHS student and on March 6, this year was sent on an errand by her father.

He said the accused accosted her on the way and threatened her with a knife unless she accompanied him to his house, the accused managed to send victim to his room and defiled her after which he gave her one Ghana cedi with a warning not to tell anyone about her ordeal.

The prosecution said the victim informed her father who reported the matter to the police and a medical form was issued to her to attend hospital, while the accused was arrested and after investigations charged with the offence.
