By NDC Canada

We, the members of NDC in Canada, wish to call on the Parliament of Ghana to confirm Hon Haruna Iddrisu as Minister of Communication. Hon Haruna Iddrisu has been nominated by His Excellency, President John Evans Atta-Mills to serve in his cabinet as the Minister for Communication because H.E. knows that Hon Haruna Iddrisu would be a great Communications Minister at this moment of Ghana's development.

Hon Haruna Iddrisu is qualified and knowledgeable in this area. He will make a fantastic minister. He surely has shown knowledge of the complex issues around Information Communication Technology (ICT) in Ghana and has also established a leadership role in the Parliamentary process as a young lawmaker. His youthfulness will allow him to stir the fast-paced and knowledge-based emerging ICT industry in Ghana. Indeed, Hon Haruna Iddrisu will assume his post, if confirmed, with a track record of the delivery required to lead the communication industry to the next level. The leadership commitment of Hon Haruna Iddrisu has never been in doubt, making him the ideal person for Minister of Communication.

Hon Haruna Iddrisu studied at the University of Ghana. Soon upon his arrival at Legon, it became clear that he had public speaking skills, leadership abilities, and an excellent communicator. As is the case today, he clearly articulated his views and contributed to discussions on the topic of the day. This caused many of his peers to encourage him to get involved in campus activities and politics. As Hon Haruna Iddrisu started his second year, it became clear that he had a lot to offer all the students across Ghana. It was based on this that many on the Legon campus encouraged him to vie for the position of the President of National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS). He won the election, and went on to complete his studies. He undertook his National Service at All African Students Union (AASU) Secretariat in Accra and later went to Ghana Law School, and is now a qualified lawyer by profession.

As we now know, he even had more to offer, and after serving as National Youth Organizer for the NDC party of Ghana, Hon Haruna Iddrisu run and was elected to occupy the parliamentary seat of Tamale South. He just got re-elected as the Member of Parliament for Tamale South, and serves as the National Youth Organizer of his party. Before the NDC was retuned to power after eight years in opposition, Hon Haruna Iddrisu served as the Minority Spokesperson on Communications in the previous Parliament. It is for the above reasons that we support his nomination, and invite you to join us in asking the parliament to confirm him as the Minister of Communication. Hon Haruna Iddrisu is surely the man to lead the way to improve the communications industry in Ghana and in Africa as a whole.

We wish him well.
