Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has said the resilience of the economy, in spite of the current global financial crisis and the rising prices of crude oil, demonstrates the expertise and ingenuity of the NPP government in managing the affairs of the nation.

He has, therefore, called on Ghanaians to vote massively for the NPP, so as to push forward the national development agenda.

Speaking at separate functions at Offinso and Konongo to introduce Mr Ben Abdallah and Mr Kwame Anyimadu Antwi as NPP parliamentary candidates for Offinso South and the Asante-Akim North constituencies respectively, Nana Akufo-Addo said his administration would go into a major industrialisation drive, which would create jobs and wealth for the people.

Mr Abdallah and Mr Antwi are both Kumasi-based legal practitioners, who won the primaries conducted in their respective constituencies.

Nana Akufo-Addo reaffirmed his commitment to ensure that students in the second cycle schools had free education.

He said a government under him would enhance teaching and learning as a catalyst to accelerate the development of the country.

He said it was during the time of the NPP government that the country found oil, adding “it was an indication that the Almighty God is behind our government to free the country out of its economic doldrums”.

Nana Akufo-Addo reminded politicians who were preaching tribal politics to refrain from such negative tendencies, because according to him, “anybody who preaches tribal politics does not want the good of the country”.

The Campaign Director of NPP, Dr Kofi Konadu Apraku, urged all the party sympathisers, members and functionaries to embark on a house-to-house campaign to make people abreast of the efforts so far made by the party in resuscitating the economy.

He said it was time for all to get actively involved in the campaign process to ensure that the party won the elections handsomely.

For his part, Mr Osafo-Maafo said voting the NDC into power meant going back to hell.

He reminded the people that when they took over from the NDC, the country was in shambles, but with their pragmatic economic policies, they were able to put the economy back on track.

Mr Abdallah also called on the people to turn out in their numbers on December 7 and vote overwhelmingly for the NPP to continue with its numerous development programmes.

Earlier, Nana Akufo-Addo and his entourage paid a courtesy call on Nana Wiafe Akenten III, the Omanhene of Offinso Traditional Area, to seek his blessing and officially introduce Ben Abdallah to him.

Nana Wiafe Akenten called on Nana Akufo-Addo to remember Offinsoman when he came to power.

He noted that the people of Offinso, from time immemorial, had always voted for the UP tradition, but when they got the power, they completely neglected them.

Other personalities who accompanied Nana Akufo-Addo were Mr Alan Kyerematen, Dr Amoako Tufuor, Mr Asonaba Dapaah, Grace Omaboe, a.k.a. Maame Dokono, Nana Ampadu, Mr Ossei-Assibey Antwi, Ms Cecilia Dapaah, and the Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive, Ms Patricia Appiagyei.
