Mrs Bawumia continues assault in WestNPP WILL WIN DEC POLLS ON MERIT

Mrs. Samira Bawumia, wife of the running mate of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has told The Chronicle that after the December elections, she was confident that the NPP, led by Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo would be declared winners.

According to the potential second lady, this would not be a surprise fixation but an attestation and a clear demonstration that indeed Ghanaians have come to accept the fact that the party has performed well in government.

Her reason for waxing confident is that Ghanaians have not been given any tangible reason why they should show the ruling Government the exit door. She reasoned that what the NPP has accomplished in government over the last seven years is such that the electorate would not make any mistake of changing it. As a result, she said, when the Electoral Commission declares the winners of the December polls, it would be the NPP that would triumph.

A third time victory, she said, would offer the NPP another opportunity to serve the people of Ghana and continue with its good governance and best economic policies for our country.

Asked what the victory of the party would mean to her, she said it is not the enticement of being the second lady that spurs her on, but rather her interest is in the victory of the NPP, which would represent the popular view of the Ghanaian electorate in their appreciation of the good work of the sitting government.

In an interview with The Chronicle in Takoradi, on Monday, after she had taken part in a peace campaign programme organized by the Takoradi Polytechnic students to educate the youth on the dangers of political violence before, during and after the December elections.

She emphatically said “I know the NPP is going to win, not just I want it to win, but because it deserves to win, and surely it will win” The youthful Samira Bawumia, who looked elegant and with a beautiful smile said the investment made by the sitting government in education alone qualified the NPP for another term of office.

According to her, Nana Addo's promise for a free secondary education for all public schools in the country, she intimated, would be a reality and not just a dream.

Because of the courage demonstrated by the sitting government in making basic education free, she said the NPP under Nana Addo would also make secondary education free.

Mrs. Bwumia told this reporter that while vigorous campaigns would be launched to make secondary education free in the next government under Nana Addo, she believes the promise made by the party's flag bearer to invest in tertiary education would also be a reality.

In the Agric sector, all the promises made by Nana Addo to transform the sector and locally process 70% of the raw produce would be aggressively pursued. Among other development initiatives of the NPP government that has made positive impact on the lives of Ghanaians, she stated, include the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) which has saved lives and helped the general health status of Ghanaians.

Mrs. Bawumia was accompanied by Mrs. Attafuah, a lawyer and wife of Professor Attafuah, who also spoke eloquently in support of the views expressed by Mrs. Samira Bawumia.
