BISHOP PRINCE HAMPEL, the general overseer of Liberty Global Christian Church (LGCC) has commended President John Agyekum Kufuor for his sterling leadership that has propelled the country to take its rightful place among the comity of nations.

He emphasized that governance of the country under President Kufuor for the past seven years was unmatched in the history of the nation.

“Before God and man, I can assertively conclude that President Kufuor's style of leadership is the best the country has ever witnessed.

“With the kind of foundation President Kufuor has laid for the past seven years I have no reason to doubt that the best of Ghana is yet to come,” he disclosed.

Bishop Hampel observed that it would be an immense disadvantage to the country if the legacy President Kufuor stands for should be made to disappear as he prepares to leave office in January 7, 2009.

He therefore suggested that President Kufuor's legacy should be immortalized to serve as a guiding principle for future presidents, irrespective of the party in power.

The international preacher with 41 years experience in spreading the gospel told DAILY GUIDE in an exclusive interview that President Kufuor should be lauded and applauded for laying a solid foundation essential for sound economic take off.

He noted that the stabilization of the cedi combined with the significant drop in inflation are all promising signs of economic redemption which Ghanaians should be sincerely proud of.

“The implementation of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), Capitation Grant and School Feeding Programme are outstanding achievements of President Kufuor which have come to give hope to the downtrodden,” the Bishop emphasized.

Bishop Hampel, who doubles as a marriage counselor, strongly rejected claims from a section of the public that President Kufuor's administration had under-performed because there was no money in people's pockets.

He noted that “without stabilization of the economy, money cannot get into the pockets of individuals,” advising Ghanaians to exercise patience and retain the NPP in power for it to continue the good works.

The former president of Ghana United Churches Union admonished Ghanaians not to cause blunder in entrusting the governance of the country into the hands of politicians who would come to annul the good policies instituted by President Kufuor, and aimed at turning the destiny of the country around.

He indicated that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo- Addo, the NPP presidential candidate was an excellent choice to take over from President Kufuor, stressing that it was obvious that when elected, Nana Addo would build on the achievements of President Kufuor.

The general overseer underscored the need for Ghanaians to eschew acts of selfishness and greed, and rather adopt positive attitude of being each other's keeper.

He pointed out that until such a time that selfishness and greed ceased to be part and parcel of the Ghanaian lifestyle, self improvement and that of the country as a whole could not be achieved.

The marriage counselor charged churches to lead the crusade of uprighting the moral background of the youth who he said are the future leaders of the country.

“I honestly believe that the churches have a pioneering role to play in shaping the morality of the youth through frank but firm teachings,” Bishop Hampel declared.

The international preacher urged churches not to see politics as evil but rather take keen interest in it and let their candid opinion be heard when the need arises.
